The cream ground, set among brown sections, provides a light space in which the details can be clearly appreciated, while touches of blue in the vegetal motifs soften the uniformity of the warm tones. The broad border, with its repeated flowers and leaves, maintains the balance of the composition.<br \/>\nThis carpet is a reinterpretation of a design from the Kashan school of the Safavid period. Its name derives from Pari-Sima, the weaver of the piece. Preserving the artist’s name in the presentation of all three woven versions is one of the valuable qualities of this collection.<br \/>\nIn addition to the present work, two other versions of Pari-Sima have been woven: one in wool, with a dark ground and richer colours, and another in silk, with a light ground and the distinctive delicacy and lustre of silk.
