Pari-Sima Carpet

Pari-Sima takes its name from the weaver of the piece, preserving the artist’s identity alongside the work. The Pari-Sima Carpet was woven with inspiration from designs of the Kashan school during the Safavid period. The repetition of floral motifs across its light ground, together with warm browns and a richly patterned border, gives this silk carpet a striking delicacy.

درباره‌ی Pari-Sima Carpet

The Pari-Sima Carpet was designed with inspiration from motifs of the Kashan school during the Safavid period. Within its field, medallion-like motifs are set in pairs against a light ground, while blossoms and scrolling branches fill the spaces between them. A broad brown border, richly adorned with vegetal motifs, completes this ordered composition.
Brown and cream are the principal colours of the work, while green and red appear in the details of the blossoms. The sheen of silk further enhances the delicacy of this colour harmony.
The name Pari-Sima is taken from the name of the carpet’s weaver, so that the artist’s name may remain beside the work. Two other woollen versions of this design have also been woven: one with a dark ground and more intense motifs, and another with a lighter combination of brown and cream. This carpet, originating from Heriz and measuring 165 × 115 cm, is part of the Bordbar Collection.
