Bakhtiari rugs are made with cotton warp and woolen weft, which makes them lighter than most oriental rugs. They are some of the most durable Persian rugs. Diversity of motifs is probably what makes Bakhtiari area rugs very special in the orintal rug world. Hand knotted Bakhtiari rugs are often divided into individual diamonds or squares with flowers or animals (kheshti). Persian Bakhtiari rugs come in a large variety of sizes. Larger sizes are harder to come by, hence considered more valuable.
