In Persian, Delsetan means captivating, enchanting or winning the heart; the name was inspired by the butterfly motif with its open wings and the delicate beauty it acquires in silk, drawing the eye in a manner distinct from the woollen versions named Delroba. In the Delsetan Carpet, the predominance of red and the symmetrical movement of arabesque branches create the image of a butterfly with open wings. This reinterpretation of motifs from the Safavid school, with its floral border and delicate vegetal details, is one of the silk weavings of the Bordbar Collection.

The Delsetan Carpet was created with inspiration from the designs of Safavid-period carpets. Its principal motif consists of four curved, symmetrical sections adorned with blossoms and scrolling branches, which together form the shape of a butterfly with open wings. The red of these sections stands out distinctly against the dark ground, with blue and golden-toned motifs appearing among them.
The richly patterned border, with its repeated blossoms and leaves, continues the colour harmony of the central field.
