Pari-Sima Carpet

Pari-Sima is the name of the weaver after whom this design is known; preserving her name across its three versions acknowledges her craftsmanship and keeps her identity associated with the work. In the Pari-Sima Carpet, medallion-like motifs are arranged in an orderly composition against a dark ground. Shades of brown, blue and red, interwoven with blossoms and arabesque branches, create a richly detailed yet balanced design. The design of this woollen carpet draws upon the ornamental traditions of the Kashan school during the Safavid period.

درباره‌ی Pari-Sima Carpet

In this version of the Pari-Sima Carpet, six medallion-like motifs are arranged in two vertical rows against a dark ground. Blossoms and arabesque branches extend between them, forming a symmetrical composition through their regular repetition. Shades of brown and red, alongside deep blues, bring clarity to the intricate details of the motifs, while the broad floral border enriches the carpet’s decorative character.
The design of this work draws upon the Kashan school of the Safavid period, and its name derives from Pari-Sima, the weaver after whom the design is known.
Alongside this carpet, another woollen version has been woven in lighter shades of brown and cream, as well as a silk version with a light ground and a distinctive lustre. This piece, originating from Heriz and measuring 195 × 140 cm, is among the weavings of the Bordbar Collection.
